Are you Ozawa's ideal man?

MANILA - You still have time, boys.

Japanese adult movie actress Maria Ozawa on Friday said that she intends settle down, but not anytime soon.
"Maybe 35," Ozawa candidly quipped when asked at what age she intends to marry.

The Japanese star, who became famous through the adult film industry, said she is 29 years old.

Ozawa also seems to have a certain type in men. At two separate occasions, she was asked on what she wants in a man, and her answers were nothing but consistent.

"He needs to be a gentleman... and athletic," said Ozawa. "I want muscular [men]," she quickly added.

Ozawa explained that she wants her man to be protective of her. Apparently, those were the same qualities that will make her fall in love.

Unfortunately for men though, Ozawa admitted that it is difficult for her to fall in love at the moment.

Ozawa landed on the cover of men's magazine FHM Philippines for July. She is back in the country for an autograph-singing event held Friday and to discuss her upcoming movie with Robin Padilla, the Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Nilalang."

High-end club sends apology to transgenders

A high-end nightclub that refused entry to a transgender fashion designer had issued an apology after stirring outrage from celebrity circles for the discriminatory act.

Ironically, one of the Valkyrie club’s owners, popular comedian Vice Ganda, is himself openly gay and had threatened to pull out his “very small share” in the wake of the incident.
In its statement released on Tuesday, the Valkyrie management apologized for refusing entry to international fashion designer Veejay Floresca earlier this month and said they do not discriminate against “transwomen and transgender individuals.”
The statement added: “The club does not refuse entry on the basis of an individual’s sexual orientation. The club has, on many previous occasions, welcomed transgender guests into its premises” and that its security personnel “were merely adhering to … safety policies and guidelines.”

Stressing that Valkyrie Nightclub and The Palace Pool Club are “private establishments,” the statement said the clubs “reserve the right to determine who will be permitted entry into their premises.”
Cross-dressers not allowed
But Floresca, a fashion designer whose work has received acclaim in Japan, China, the United States and Britain, said she was barred from Valkyrie on June 12, with a bouncer telling her that “cross-dressers are not allowed.”
On June 20, she tried to enter another uptown establishment, Pool Palace Club, owned by the same company, but was again blocked by a bouncer who questioned her California ID card, identifying her as a woman.
“No, you are still a man,” she quoted the bouncer as saying. However, a woman at the club intervened and got her inside, Floresca added.
The incidents touched off a firestorm with many accusing the management of discrimination.
Ganda (Jose Marie Viceral in real life) tweeted: “The ‘No Crossdressing Policy’ in any establishment is so THIRD WORLD. If Valkyrie implements this crap, I will pull out my very small share.”

‘One of you, one with you’
In another tweet, he said: “To all members of the LGBT community: I AM ONE OF YOU AND I AM ONE WITH YOU.”
TV talk show host Boy Abunda, who is also openly gay, expressed support for Floresca as well. “Whether you are a cross-dresser or a transgender woman… you still have rights,” he said.
The management said the clubs’ personnel were only enforcing a policy to deny entry to people whom they doubt is presenting an authentic identification card, the statement said.
“Club management recognizes, however, that it may be necessary to provide further training to its staff to ensure that they are better able to communicate the club’s guidelines and policies to its patrons in
order to avoid misunderstanding in the future,” it added.
The Philippines, which has a largely Catholic and conservative population, does not have a law forbidding discrimination against gays and transgender individuals and does not recognize same-sex marriage.
But a USAID study in 2014 indicated that “Filipinos are generally accepting of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people,” with some local communities passing ordinances that bar discrimination against them.
Another transgender female, Trixie Maristela recounted how she was similarly refused entry at Valkyrie on June 13, and said the incident showed that the “struggle” of the LGBT community in the country was “very real.”
Identified as male
Although her friends were allowed entry, Maristela could not get in because the lady guard saw her license identifying her as a male.
“She said there was a dress code: males were not allowed to use open shoes, and they were supposed to wear polo and pants,” Maristela said, recalling that she wore a neon green dress and open shoes with heels at that time.
A man who identified himself as security head Rolly Palanca approached them and also told Maristela that she was a male, based on her ID.
“Imagine, I only wanted to have fun. Why did I have to beg for them to allow me to enter?” the transgender said in a phone interview on Wednesday.
When Maristela told the security personnel that she was not refused entry on previous times, she was told that it was possibly because she had a VIP reservation at the club on those times.
The answer infuriated her even more since it showed that “if one had money, the (club) can bend their so-called rules,” Maristela said

P15,000 for VIP table
She wound up paying for a P15,000 VIP table at an adjacent club, Pool Palace, which Maristela said, has the same owners.
“Actually I spent more than P15,000 because I invited some of my other friends as well. I paid only because I wanted to show up (Valkyrie), make them realize that we can get in if we have money,” she said.
According to Maristela, the incident showed that the LGBT community continues to face real problems that “for the longest time were ignored” by society.
“The prejudice is still prevalent,” she said, adding that the incident had inspired her to speak up more about LGBT issues and to educate people about how to treat them “without (making) judgments.”
Dialogue on June 29
For a start, she and the Valkyrie management will sit down for a dialogue on June 29, Maristela said.
“I’m still giving them the benefit of the doubt because maybe there was only a wrong interpretation of the rules (on the part of their security),” said the LGBT spokesperson, who won the Miss Gay Manila pageant recently.

South Cotabato: Flood, landslides kill 3 people

KORONADAL CITY – Three people were killed, a major bridge was damaged and several areas of South Cotabato were submerged in floodwaters following hours of light to moderate downpour that started Tuesday.

Tupi, South Cotabato Mayor Reynaldo Tamayo said separate landslides took place in Barangay Bunao and Lunen there and buried the three victims.

Tamayo did not identify those killed but added that the landslides were triggered by the rains.

Koronadal City Mayor Peter Miguel said a tricycle driver was also injured when the bridge in Barangay Concepcion collapsed as he was crossing it early Wednesday.

\
The driver, whom he did not identify, was successfully rescued after falling off the bridge and is now recuperating at the provincial hospital.

Miguel explained that the bridge’s collapse was due to the strong current of the overflowed river in the village.

He said the rains also triggered floods that affected some 1,000 families in three low-lying villages of this city.

“Classes in all levels in the city are suspended, wait for further announcement,” Miguel said in a radio interview.

In nearby Banga town, at least 700 families were also affected when flood waters swept into four villages and damaged several houses.

South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance Fuentes said floods were also reported in the towns of Norala and Tupi.

Duterte considers running in 2016 presidency

DAVAO CITY , Philippines – Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has vowed to stop saying he will not be seeking the presidency in 2016 and will keep an open mind before the filing of the certificates of candidacy in October.
The Davao city mayor, known for his high-handed style of governance, said he is considering the overwhelming support shown by friends, individuals and groups who are egging him to give the presidency a run. He added that he is weighing his options given the country’s serious problems.
People have been waiting for Duterte to finally come out and categorically declare that he is running for president in the May 2016 polls. In previous engagements, he repeatedly said he will not run because of old age, poor health and lack of funds.
“I will consider the suggestion of my friends and supporters,” he said over the weekend, adding that the presidency is a destiny which only God could bestow.
Duterte has also been monitoring the results of surveys on who will succeed President Aquino. The Pulse Asia poll showed him in third place, behind Sen. Grace Poe and Vice President Jejomar Binay, with 15 percent, an increase of 3 percentage points from the March survey.
In the Social Weather Stations survey, which used the “pick three” method in ranking presidential aspirants for 2016, Duterte jumped from 15 percent to 20 percent.
Duterte’s friends and supporters believe that his ratings could have been higher had he not categorically stated that he was not interested in the presidency.
“The reluctance of people to openly express support for Mayor Duterte is due to the fact that he has repeatedly declared he is not running. In fact, the question we always hear is: Is he really running?” said former transportation secretary Pantaleon Alvarez, one of Duterte’s ardent supporters.
Even political leaders are left hanging and remain in a quandary on how to handle the Duterte factor, since he is very strong among the grassroots in Mindanao, the Visayas, Metro Manila and Southern Tagalog areas.
Contrary to surveys showing that Duterte only holds 37 percent of Mindanao, local political leaders believe that he will garner 75 to 80 percent of the southern islands’ votes, estimated at about 13 million.
“Any Mindanao political leader who will campaign against Duterte in his area will face a revolt and upheaval from his own people because they see Duterte as their hope of getting the attention of the national government for the first time,” said outspoken Duterte supporter Gov. Jose Zubiri of Bukidnon.
The prospect of having a president from Mindanao has also forced southern political leaders to set aside their political differences and forge unlikely alliances just to support Duterte.
