After a shocking defeat to Qatar in the quarterfinals of the Asian Games, it looks like the troubles have just started for Gilas Pilipinas as head coach Chot Reyes called out naturalized Filipino Marcus Douthit moments after the game.

“I don't think it was an issue of fatigue. I think it was more of an issue of desire,” Reyes continued as tweeted by Patricia Hizon.
Qatar took full advantage of the Filipino bigs’ lack of speed as they shot from outside or attacked off the dribble.
Mohd Yousuf Mohamed rained down threes on Gilas in the third quarter to start their rally. Boney Harold Watson also abused the Philippines’ inside defense en route to 15 points. Douthit scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds in the contest.

After the game, Reyes rued their inability to defend bigger shooters.

“That's the problem we have if we play against a shooting big man. Marcus is an inside player, same with Fajardo. [They] can't defend big man shooters,” he said. “I'm not worried about who we 're playing. I'm worried about my team. It wasn't just Marcus. We had a bunch of players who weren't ready. It doesn't matter where or who we play, if we're not there, that's what's really gonna affect the game.”

Douthit stepped in to be the naturalized player for Gilas as Andray Blatche was deemed ineligible. A veteran player in the Asian region, Blatche usually defends post players. On the other hand, in his short stint with Gilas, Blatche showed the ability to defend faster opponents.
