MANILA – Maguindanao Governor Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu called on the officials of Camp Bagong Diwa Jail in Bicutan to be stricter in guarding the primary suspects in the Ampatuan massacre.
Despite being jailed, the accused are free to order their underlings to do as they wish, he said.
This is because the suspects in the world’s worst attack on media personnel are free to use cell phones and the Internet, Mangudadatu said.
The Maguindanao governor made the statement after the failed attempt to kill witness former Datu Salibo Mayor, Akmad Ampatuan, last Wednesday.
The former mayor, who is a relative of the accused, is said to have vital information against them.
On November 18, another witness, Dennis Sakal, was killed in Shariff Aguak.
Mangudadatu said he hopes that his call will be heeded by prison authorities.
