Marc Sueselbeck, the German fiancé of slain transgender woman Jeffrey "Jennifer" Laude, has challenged suspect US Marines Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton to face the investigation on the killing, a television report said Tuesday.

Calling on Pemberton to personally appear in the preliminary investigation, Sueselbeck said in a report on GMA News TV's News to Go: "I hope that he would at least stand there... And face the full consequence of what he did."

The preliminary investigation is scheduled at 2 p.m.

In the same television report, Sueselbeck stressed that he is not looking for revenge against the suspect.

"I hope that justice will be granted, though I will not be looking for revenge... I just hope he will get the sentence that he deserves, whatever that would be," he said.

Sueselbeck arrived in the country on Monday to pay his last respects to the victim whose remains lie in Olongapo City. He was earlier quoted as saying he planned to stay in the country for about a week.

Sueselbeck and Laude reportedly met online in 2012. Sueselbeck, during an interview, said he and Laude were supposed to get married next year. He earlier proposed to Laude in December 2013.

However, on October 11, Laude was found dead inside the comfort room of an inn in Olongapo City.

The Olongapo City Prosecutor’s office had summoned Pemberton to attend the preliminary investigation scheduled on Tuesday, but the US Embassy said it is still up to the US Marine to appear or not.

However, the family of Laude hopes that Pemberton will attend the preliminary investigation, the same television report said.

"The family is ready now for the preliminary investigation, they are ready, they are expecting that they will be facing Pemberton, that the US government will be bringing Pemberton for the preliminary investigation," the family's legal counsel, lawyer Virgie Suarez, said.
